Flash Animation & Development
Our team of seasoned and creative Flash developers can create great-looking animations for your website, as well as more complex Flash features using action script and Flex. We have created websites entirely built in Flash, as well as sites with Flash animations inlined as part of the page.
Featured Flash Work:
Built from a stunning layout by Philippe Becker Design (San Francisco), The Tableaux Wines site is a stunning showcase of fresh imagery, fluidly-Actionscripted animation, and tricky visual transitions. The client's vision for the brand identity dictated a subtlety and comfort that needed to come across in every movement and every visual cue. The centerpiece of this site is an XML-driven presentation of answers to the question "why are we here," for which the end-user is invited to share their own answers or euphemisms, and content can be added or edited on-the-fly.

Peninsula Custom Homes' newly re-branded web site, developed from a page design by Look Design in San Francisco, is a perfect example of blending form with function. While the design closely resembles the style of the company's print collateral, it needed to have interactivity in motion, as well as flexibility and powerful features. All imagery is loaded at runtime, and can easily be changed when the client decides they're ready for a change. Features include XML-driven photo gallery, integrated form for checking project status, and smooth actionscripted transition animations and menu system.

When Common Knowledge approached us with a request to make a Flash presentation for the Stop the Seal Hunt campaign, we couldn't resist. The site has a microsite associated with it, where active citizens can lend their support, speak their peace, choose or upload an avatar, and share their location if they wish. The user is also invited to call in and leave a voice message, which will be linked to their information in the database. The server generates an XML document with all this content, and updates it on a routine schedule. The Flash piece on the main site brings in the XML data for the 1600 most recent contributors, loads them into a grid of 1600 individual squares, and shows only the data they chose to share. Audio controls are included for those users who have left voice messages. As this is an international campaign, great care was taken to ensure all languages and special characters would keep their integrity through all intermediate steps.

The end-of-year report microsite for the Sierra Club is a beautiful example of fluid motion, user-controlled animation, and flexible content. All text is loaded in at runtime via XML, and all photos can be changed on a moment's notice, without need to re-compile or re-develop. The animation, entirely controlled by Actionscript, is far more elegant than any keyframe animation.
