The whole area is protected so that it abounds with the most beautiful coral formations Hawaii has to offer and the most gorgeous tropical fish you've ever seen.

Best Snorkeling and Diving Spots in Maui
Honolu'a Bay
Experience level: Beginner to advanced
Facilities: none
Beach: large, smooth rock
Honolu'a is one of best beaches for casual swimming and snorkeling in Maui on a good day (when there hasn't been much rain). This is a marine reserve with amazing coral formations and beautiful tropical fish, there is even a good chance you will see a few sea turtles!
Molokini Crater
Experience Level: Beginner to advanced
Facilities: Whatever is on the boat
Beach: None
Molokini is one of the most popular & exotic snorkel & diving sites in the world. You can see thousands of colorful fish, monk seals, whale sharks, manta rays and more with unmatched visibility!
Coral Gardens
Experience Level: Advanced (beginner to intermediate from a boat)
Facilities: Showers, change rooms, restrooms
Beach: None
This spot is known for its lovely coral and tropical fish, but is only recommended for advanced snorkelers because of the long swim and difficult access. It is possible to visit this spot as a beginner or intermediate snorkeler only if you come on a boat.
Makulei'a Bay
Experience Level: Beginner to advanced

In addition to being some of the best snorkeling in maui, Makulei'a Bay is also marine reserve. At Makulei'a Bay, you will have easy access to good snorkeling spots see beautiful tropical fish and coral reefs, and you might even come accross sea turtles.
Kapalua Bay

Kapalua Bay, is know by locals and travelers alike as one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui. Snorkeling is best on the north side of the bay, and inside of the bay is the safest spot for beginning snorkelers.
Kahekili Beach Park

Beach: sandy beach
Kahekili Beach Park, has calm water, is easily accessible and there is plenty of reef to explore, making it a great place to go snorkeling with the family.
Olowalu

Olowalu has acres of coral reef to explore! You could spend your whole day snorkeling here and still not see it all!
La Perouse

Beach: Rocky to none
La Perouse has some of the best snorkeling on the island and is brimming with amazing aquatic life. If you are lucky the playful dolphins that frequent the area will swim with you!
Black Rock
Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate
Facilities: Lots of parking (some free some not), showers, change rooms, restrooms, pay phones, shops and restaurants.
Beach: sandy beach
Black Rock is a lava outcropping with coral attached with great sights to see while snorkeling. Turtles are a common sighting and you might occasionally spot an octopus!
Wahikuli Park
Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate

Beach: sandy beach
Wahikuli Beach Park is a wonderful beach for its proximity to Lahaina Town, it's great snorkeling and its many public amenities
Kamaole Beaches
Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate
Facilities: Showers, change rooms, restrooms, lifeguards, phones, Beach: Nice, sandy beach
There are three Kamaole beaches along South Kihei Road. The best places to snorkel are the rocky points that border the beaches.
Ulua/Mokapu
Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate

Beach: sandy beach on either side of snorkel area
Mokapu and Ulua are two beaches separated by a small snorkel point. This is a great place to go snorkeling with the family.
Polo Beach
Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate

Polo beach is a beautiful sandy beach with coral formations and colorful fish, this is a wonderfuly alive snorkeling experience.
Five Caves
Experience Level: Intermediate to advanced

5 Caves has abundant marine life and there are many caves and "swim-thrus" for the adventurous snorkeler to explore. This is not a good spot for beginning snorkelers because of the long swim required to get here.
