I have no problem with innovation and FB and Google continue to evolve, but it is difficult to keep up with the changes. People must be voting with their fingers though, look what has happened to yahoo in the last few days- stand still in this business and you get eaten whole.

I have no problem with Facebook evolving its product, and I think most of the changes have been for the better. I seriously doubt Facebook would make alterations "purely for the sake of it." They're trying to keep the platform competitive and flexible to meet the increasing demands of its users. And there will be other platforms, such as Google+, that will be innovating. You either evolve or die.

Hi Brendan,
Personally I think that Facebook should stop making so many changes. They had a great original formula so why alter it? From what I've heard it only irritates people when they find that the set up they have gotten used to has been modified. Obviously it's important to respond to user's demands and changing environments but I get the distinct impression that Facebook make alterations purely for the sake of it.

Now it is "after the fact" so to speak, has it been a bad thing or goof that Facebook made these changes?

I agree with you brainac, facebook programming is a real nightmare and definitely the worst API I've seen in my life (10 years of programming experience).

I believe Facebook is reserving that left column for its content exclusively.

Thanks for your help on this one. Will we still have the option or ability of placing things on the left hand column? The only way I know of adding custom FBML aplpictaions to the left side is using the boxes tab and than moving it to the wall. Please let me know if there is another way or if Facebook is removing the option of placing things there?

Thanks

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm sure we'll get used to the changes but are they really necessary. It might be more appropriate to fix the chat service which keeps crashing "an error occurred" or users who are online appearing off line
But on the whole FB is great why change it???
